Meet Our Teacher
Marianna Cacciatore is an author, minister, teacher and spiritual counselor. In her first book, Being
There for Someone in Grief, Marianna shares essential lessons for supporting people grieving
death, loss, and trauma. It is a compassionate guide for anyone who has ever wondered how to
help a friend, a teaching resource for hospice volunteers, and a model for anyone learning to work
with people in grief.
Her current manuscript, The Heart Breaks Open—An Exploration in Love, Grief and Generosity
expands the scope of grief and suffering to show how our losses can deepen our capacity for love.
It reveals the way a dark period can break open the heart if we let it. Our priorities shift toward a
generosity of spirit. This book is like a deep bow to grief and a map to its ultimate gift.
Spiritual Influences
Since 1997, Marianna’s area of spiritual interest has been Buddhism. For 16 years, her spiritual
home was Spirit Rock Meditation Center in the San Francisco Bay Area. Beginning in 2017, she
completed a 3-year course of study at Shambhala International. These learning experiences, and
more, formed the foundation for her Master of Divinity degree from the University for Integrative
Tacheria Topics
For Tacheria, Marianna teaches two classes: a grief module titled after her book, Being There for
Someone in Grief, and a class on Buddhism.
